M64 bios version 1.24.4 has been released, download it here or through Wi-Fi download directly from the console.
Looks like I had missed that ModRetrohad released yet another firmware update shortly after 1.24.1 and this new 1.24.3 installs quite fast (over WiFi). The M64.BIN is still available from the ModRetro tools section.
From the Changelog when updating over WiFi, the following was written.
ModRetro has released the first firmware update, since launch, for the M64. It's mainly about some audio fixes, controller updates including wireless rumble, which they decided to prioritize over virtual controller paks? There is still room for improvements to be made for sure, it's nice to see some progress though!

The M64 review is finally ready and you can find it right here.
It looks like Evercade also wants a piece of the N64 hype going on at the moment, with the release of both the Analogue3D and the M64. Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie are both coming to the Evercade on October 30th 2026 and they can be played on any Evercade console/handheld released to this day. I will be picking up this one myself, but my biggest concern is that this should be played with an analog stick like on the N64, in fact I fail to see how it maps out to the Evercade controller, except for the new Evercade Nexus handheld which features analog sticks, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see - cool none the less to see Banjo back on a "new" cartridge.

If you haven't heard it yet, the N64 compatible console, M64 by ModRetro is available to order today, along with 4 games - of which 2 are "new" and the other two are rereleases of classic N64 games.

By now it is likely no secret to anyone that Sony is to cease production of PlayStation discs by January 2028. Right now there is a lot of debacle about the numbers shared by Sony to justify their decision to cease disc production. Whether those number are correct or not, I can’t really say and I guess no one really knows for sure, not even Sony maybe.

I was looking around on youtube today and this one appeared in my feed. I am beyond excited to see N64 homebrew finally happening, sure it has been for a long time, but the developments lately have blown my mind. Anyway check out the video and if you have an N64 flash cart, you can download the latest version of the game at https://github.com/Boxingbruin/Pandemonium/releases

Something I have been wanting do to for years. This is a small article about Phoenix Games and their mission to bring as much shovelware to market as possible. Click here to read about Phoenix Games, Europe’s only Super Budget Publisher (except for Midas maybe, but that's another story)

I have to be completely honest and say that I had never heard of Donut Dodo before and it honestly does not look like an N64 game either, so are we looking at an emulator running a game, all neatly packed into an N64 cartridge?
No it seems, because the people behind the game actually set out to create a game in a 1980's atmosphere - and the game was released for PC a while back. The authors of the game then wanted to make the game run on actual retro hardware, but why they choose the N64 the story does not say - other than it had to be a system from the 1990's and we all know the 90's didn't have a lot of consoles to choose from right?
Anyway the game is now on Kickstarter and I once again found myself backing a project, I hope my bank account doesn't mind.
Also, it seems that the kickstarter went live yesterday and the project has already been funded for a November 2026 release.
