Way back when I was young, yeah that's quite a while back, I visited Rhodes with my family, July 1998 to be exact. At this time I was really into Nintendo pirate stuff and I really hoped to find some new
goodies on Rhodes, but boy was I let down by the Greek island.
So I convinced my family that we had to take a boat trip to see the beautiful city of Marmaris Turkey, and so we did, well actually I could only convince my mother to come along.
At that time Turkey was true heaven for Nintendo pirate collectors, at the local market there were Nintendo goods at every corner and they were sold for next to nothing as well. So I picked up a
Fun Time Home Computer which is no computer, but a Famicom clone looking like an N64, awesome!
So now that I had a clone looking like an N64, I of course couldn't pass on another one looking like a Sony Playstation, hah, and it had an even cooler name, being Play+ Power V. Years earlier I had picked
up the Play+ Poer II in Spain, but that's another story.
The clone was released by the legendary Mastergames label, a company that flooded at least Europe with game clones.
The back of the box promises you crystal clean 3D graphics, digitized color and sound with real voices... I wonder if anyone ever returned one as the promises weren't fulfilled?.
What we have here is a Famicom clone, as mentioned earlier, and it's shaped like the "old" version of the Playstation, even the actual size. Under the CD lid you don't find a CD drive though, but instead a Famicom
game slot. The clone features both AV and RF out.
The console came with a cartridge that said "Outstanding Rare Card 6000in1 (MK025)", unfortunately it wasn't stored with the clone I can't find it right now. Also included is 2 PlayStation like joypads and a
gun called "Lethal Enforcers". These can be seen on the back of the box.
The games on the cartridge are as follows (with their original titles and publisher):
Mortal Kombat 3 (Unknown, not official release)
Tecmo Soccer Cup? (it's renamed to Int. Fifa Soccer 97)
Mickey Mousecapade (Capcom)
Karate Kid (?)
Dr. Mario (Nintendo)
Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo)
Tetris (Tengen)
Popeye (Nintendo)
F1 Race (Nintendo)
Duck Hunt (Nintendo)
Wild Gunman (Nintendo)
Sky Destroyer (Hudson Soft)
Excitebike (Nintendo)
Yie Ar Kung-Fu (Konami)
Battle City (Nintendo)
Lode Runner (Brøderbund)
Galaxian (Namco)
